I can’t believe Christmas has already come and gone! As I mentioned a couple of posts back, I decided I didn’t have enough going on so I went ahead and had a sinus surgery 2 days before Christmas! #crazytalk Fortunately, I wasn’t out of commission for long at all.
Our first Christmas was with my mom’s side of the family. It was actually the night of the surgery, so I had to wear some tape on my nose. Ryder was terrified! He would not come near me all night. Poor guy was so confused! He still had fun opening presents from Granny and Poppa, though, and loved his new “neigh”. Johnny even showed him how to ride it. Ryder stayed with my parents that night so I could get some rest, and we were having another Christmas out there the next day anyways.
I had some good pain meds, so I was feeling OK the next morning which was Christmas Eve. We had Christmas with my dad’s side of the family that day. Of course “Santa Cindy” delivered! She bought Ryder a cool motorized car, but we can control it with a remote control. It is fun for him and Chad! The yellow car below is an antique for my mom’s patio, but Ryder had to try it out too. We had a lot of fun hanging out with them that day. Ryder was so sweet with my grandmother, Bibb. He gave her lots of loving, which I am sure her heart needed. We also made a trip to Uncle Johnny’s house to check on his miniature horse, Turbo. Somehow, Ryder was still going by the end of the day so we made our way to Brownfield for dinner with Chad’s mom’s family. Ryder had fun playing with his cousin (second or third?), Brantley.
We learned our lesson this year, and Chad helped Santa put together all of the toys a few nights before. We were able to go to bed decently early, and wake up to find Santa’s surprises! Santa brought Ryder a Cozy Coupe, a Fisher Price Dancing Robot, and a stocking full of goodies. Ryder loves the Cozy Coupe just as much as his car from Cindy. He also already talks on the phone while driving… we will have to work on that 😉
Ryder was losing interest in opening the presents from us, but he got a Go Go Smart Wheels track, a couple of books, Lego Duplos, and a big Minky Couture blanket… which I knew he would LOVE! It just had to pass the thumb test, and he was hooked!
After we got all dressed, we headed to my parents house. My parents got him cars for his Smart Wheels track, books, a see and say, and tools. Johnny got him a big Tonka Truck, and they had a blast playing together. I got a Minky Couture blanket for myself (monster size), and everyone wanted it! It came with a free mini minky, so we are minkied out over here! Somehow I still have to share…
After Ryder and I both took a nap, we headed over to Chad’s aunt’s house for Christmas with his dad’s family. They had been waiting on us to do the adult’s gift exchange so I didn’t get many pictures from hanging out. Chad’s parents gave Ryder more Legos so he played with those while we played games with the adults.
Finally, Christmas Day night we did our gift exchange with Chad’s parents. It was another full and busy Christmas season, but I know Ryder enjoyed every minute! He loves all of his new toys, and plays with something different every day! I did hide some again this year to pull out later in the year when he gets bored.
Right after Christmas, Winter Storm Goliath hit and we were snowed in for SEVERAL days. It was a good thing we had lots of new toys to keep us entertained!
Until next time friends. I am almost caught up! Woohoo!
